I stayed true to my vision of expressing life in layers through the compositions I submitted to APERO Gallery's "Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful" call to artists.
I chose images that show brokenness, loneliness and rejection and added elements I believe highlight their hidden beauty.
I added concrete-colored roses to the statues cast in a pile, rejected and broken figurines unworthy of cemetery plots. I "re-upholstered” the back of a castaway chair found on a sidewalk in San Francisco. My face, without make up, blooms in the highlight of a purple rose. And a lonely bench in Ojai is adorned and now enjoys the company of women.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
